Dear Spanky Baits Supporting Crew,
Thanks to all of you for supporting Spanky Baits. It has been a pleasure doing business with you and we look forward to building our relationships even stronger in the months to come. We try to be brief but we have a lot to cover. If you haven’t been to the website in a while please check it out, we have hired a new photographer who has done a great job in capturing the image colors for a better viewing experience. We are also very excited to announce our new products so we’ll get right to it.
The 8 Ball Spinner Bait was released this past winter at the shows. After great success during fall testing in “08” we fine tuned it and beefed up the components for the “09” release. The new magnum 10/0 Willow Blade gives a much different thump than the Colorado. We could have called this bait the “Jack Hammer” because that is what is feels like, more pulsing action! The blades on this bait can be changed out so we are working on offering spare blades.
We have added many new skirts to our Fireball, Firefly and 8 Ball lines. With the availability of new Flashabou colors we are able to move into more intense blends like Purple Haze, 1 Black & 1 Copper, Black & Glow Orange, Creamsicle, Bluegill, Bluegill (Hanson Version) and Chartreuse & Silver. We also added some of the more classic subtle patterns like Walleye, Bleeding Cisco and Brown.
After the addition of our Ribbed and Hex blades this last winter, we have only 1 new blade to announce and that is fluorescent Green.
We have a new accessories page, which contains tools and components that are vital to muskie fishing. These accessories are of the highest quality and are the same used in the Spanky Baits Shop for production and assembly. After much demand we have also created a trolling keel to keep lines from twisting.
I know many of you are preparing to head out on trips to some of the better-known Muskie waters. Please take a second to check out The Lake Pack Page. It is now updated and contains packs for Eagle Lake, Lake of the Woods, Mille Lacs, St. Clair and the Madison Chain. Many top guides from those lakes have influenced these packs and the patterns are continuously improved and revised to reflect the real time feedback from those guides. If you are going to a lake that we currently do not have a pack for please drop us an email anyway and we will try to assist in color selection for individual baits. We have a steady stream of info from almost every area and we love to share.
I’m sure I will see a lot of you on the water but we wish all of you all safe trips and good luck as you are fishing for that fish of a lifetime. If you end up with a monster, send pictures, we will try to stay up to date with web pictures.
Thanks, Dan & the Spanky Baits Team

News Letter

First, we would like to thank all of you for supporting Spanky Baits. It has been a pleasure doing business with you and we look forward to building our relationships even stronger in the years to come.
We are very excited to offer 3 new smoke blade patterns: ribbed, prism and hex. All blades are .040” thick as usual and have already been producing big fish. We have also expanded our “Spankywear” line to include sweatshirts. These sweatshirts are just like our baits, heavy duty; they look great and are worth the squeeze. Our graphics company understands the Spanky philosophy so they started out with a Champion 12oz reversible weave sweatshirt and then added the twill plating and finished them off with great embroidered colors.
A lot of you have asked which shows we will be at this year. We are sponsoring the Chicago Muskie Show and we will also have booths at the Milwaukee Muskie Expo and the Minnesota Show. As usual, if you want baits made before the shows let us know, we will bring them along to avoid the shipping charges. We will also be unveiling our new bait at the shows so please stop by for that excitement. We look forward to the shows as they give us a nice opportunity to finally meet so many of you.
Last but not least, we are producing some videos and I need fish pictures. If you would like to be considered for the videos, please get us those pics. You can send them to info@spankybaits.com
Fall is here and that means fat fish. I’m sure I will see a lot of you out there but I wish you all safe trips and good luck as you are fishing for that fish of a lifetime.
Thanks,
Dan & the Spanky Baits Team
